The case of Kithuka Kimunyi Musyimi, the prime suspect in the killing of a General Service Unit (GSU) officer at State House, Nairobi, has been deferred pending a mental assessment report.

The prosecution told the court that the accused had been sent to Kenyatta National Hospital for a mental assessment last week when the case was brought up for discussion.

The report, however, is expected to be ready in two weeks’ time.

The outcome of the medical assessment will determine whether Musyimi is fit to take a plea in connection with the officer’s killing.

The court directed that the matter be mentioned on November 27, when the mental report will be presented and further directions issued.

Musyimi is accused of fatally attacking a GSU officer attached to the State House security detail.
