The award, renamed in memory of the late IFC Programs Lead Dennis Quansah, recognizes contributions to sustainable and environmentally responsible building practices.
Speaking at the ceremony themed “A Taste of Lamu” at Emara Ole Sereni, Megna Homes CEO Ahmed Badawy said the recognition affirms the company’s commitment to housing solutions that respect the environment.
“Sustainability is not just a feature in our projects; it is part of our DNA as a company. With Santana, and every project we embark on, our goal is to provide modern housing that fosters community living while reducing environmental impact. We see this as our contribution to a greener, more resilient Kenya.” Mr. Badawy emphasised.
The event was attended by Council of Governors Chair Ahmed Abdillahi (Wajir), Lamu Governor Issa Timamy, and Garissa Governor Nadhif Jama.
The recognition comes weeks after Megna Homes became the first Mombasa developer to achieve EDGE certification for its flagship Santana project in Mtopanga, Bamburi. The 12-acre development, comprising 816 residential units and 64 commercial spaces, has been commended for energy efficiency, water savings, and reduced embodied energy in materials.
The project also includes community amenities such as green spaces, a swimming pool, sports facilities, and infrastructure upgrades.
