Both leaders have been crisscrossing the constituency, seeking to consolidate their influence and assert dominance over the Mt. Kenya vote.
As the homestretch of the campaigns approaches, political heavyweights from both the government and the opposition are actively engaging voters, signaling a tense showdown ahead of the November 27 polls.
Gachagua, who is actively supporting DP Party candidate Newton Karish, pledged to remain on the ground in Muminji to safeguard votes.
“I have come to protect the votes here in Muminji. I will stay until the very end,” he said. His presence has been endorsed by political figures such as former CS Mithika Linturi, who described Gachagua as a trustworthy leader.
In response, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has intensified campaigning for UDA’s Leonard Wamuthende.
Kindiki warned the opposition of a significant setback in the upcoming election. “This election will teach those guys a serious lesson… they must stop showing disrespect,” he stated.
The political tension has been further fueled by accusations from Kindiki, claiming that Gachagua has been undermining UDA leaders from neighboring Embu.
“Wamunyoro must respect other leaders — CS Ruku, Governor Mbarire, and Embu MPs,” he remarked.
Government officials, including CS Geoffrey Ruku, have called for unity and development over division. “We want development, not unrest. We want dialogue, not chaos,” he said.
The outcome is expected to provide clear insight into the political dynamics and influence within the Mt. Kenya region
