Police at Machakos Police Station have been blamed for not acting on a reported case of threat to life before the girl was killed.
He is the man police are treating as the main suspect in the brutal murder of 21-year-old Virginia Wayua Nzioki.
The suspect allegedly committed the offence on September 9 within Kariobangi, Machakos. Preliminary investigations show that the suspect allegedly committed the crime and used the deceased's mobile phone number to break the news to her family.
The suspect allegedly then shared disturbing pictures of a terrifying crime scene with the deceased.
Josephine Ndunda, the mother of the deceased, said, "Kutoka hapo suspect ndo alianza kunipigia simu na kuniambia ni yeye na ndio amemuua. Huyo kijana simjui na sijawai muona."
The family claims that the deceased had reported a case to the police on threats to her life.
"Polisi Machakos DCI Hawakunisaidia. Msichana alireport tarehe tano threat na sasa polisi wakampuuza ndio kijana akapata nguvu ya kumuua tarehe kumi," Ndunda added.
The suspect was arrested on Wednesday while at a hideout in Mombasa. He awaits the court process on Thursday.
