Man arrested over New Year Eve killing of 20-year-old in Nakuru

A middle-aged man has been arrested in connection with the death of a 20-year-old man in Dundori, Bahati, Nakuru County on New Year’s Eve.

The arrest came hours after residents of Dundori held demonstrations, lighting bonfires along the Nakuru–Olkalou Road on Thursday night to protest the killing of Hosea Kariuki who was stabbed.

Witness reports indicate that Kariuki was in the company of his friends on Wednesday night when he was attacked.

Residents are raising alarm over the rising insecurity cases.

Samson Gachomo, a resident, said: “Kijana wetu anaitwa Hosea alifariki, hatujapata haki yoyote, tuone kuna shughli tunafanya mwenye alimuuwa atiwe mbaroni.”

Peter Waweru added: “Tunaona hakuna kitu wanafanya, kuwe na reshuffle… waende tu.”
