The win saw the reigning champions set up a high-stakes Thursday semi-final against former champions Cameroon who picked a routine 3-0 win (25-18,25-20, 25-18) against Uganda.

Algeria threw down the gauntlet by taking the first set 25-21 to hand Malkia Strikers their first set loss of the championship, but the home crowd-buoyed hosts staged a comeback to seal the win 25-7, 25-15, and 25-18.

Earlier on, three-time champions and 2023 silver medallists Egypt continued their impressive run after securing a convincing 3-0 victory over Tunisia to book Rwanda in the semi-finals.

Egypt dominated the match from the opening whistle, winning the first set 25-20 before extending their advantage with a 25-14 victory in the second. Egypt maintained their momentum in the third set, delivering a commanding performance to win 25-9 and complete a straight-set victory.

Rwanda punched their ticket to the last four with a 3-1 set win (25- 17, 24- 26, 25- 19, 25- 18) over Ghana.
