Hamilton, 40, shared the news with his followers on Instagram on September 29, posting a series of photos with Roscoe and a heartfelt tribute. The seven-time world champion revealed that his companion had been placed on life support after suffering pneumonia and cardiac arrest.
“After four days on life support, fighting with every bit of strength he had, I had to make the hardest decision of my life and say goodbye to Roscoe,” Hamilton wrote. “He never stopped fighting, right until the very end.”
The Mercedes driver described Roscoe as a “beautiful soul, an angel and true friend,” adding that bringing him into his life was the best decision he ever made. “I will forever cherish the memories we created together,” he said.
Hamilton, who adopted Roscoe in 2013, credited the bulldog with providing unwavering companionship during both personal struggles and professional triumphs. Over the years, Roscoe became a familiar presence in the Formula 1 paddock, often seen by Hamilton’s side at races and award ceremonies.
The Briton’s absence from last week’s tyre test was attributed to his decision to remain with Roscoe during his final days.
Condolences poured in across social media from fellow drivers, F1 teams, and fans worldwide, many acknowledging Roscoe’s unique place within the sport’s community.
