Kwale finalizes preparations for 2025 African Cycling Championship

Speaking during a media briefing at Kwale Stadium in Matuga, Governor Achani said both the county and national governments have implemented comprehensive measures to ensure the event proceeds without disruption. She called on security agencies to remain vigilant throughout the competition.
“Kwale is ready. We have put everything in place to ensure that this championship runs smoothly and safely. This is a major opportunity for our county to showcase its potential to the rest of Africa. I welcome everyone to this historic competition,” Achani said.
Key race routes will include the Likoni–Lungalunga Road, Kwale–Kombani, Kona ya Beach–Absa stretch, and Lotfa–Mvindeni Road, all of which will be temporarily closed during competition hours.
The programme will officially launch on Thursday, 19th November, followed by junior and elite races on Friday, 20th November, covering the ABSA–Mvindeni–Red Cross–Kona ya Beach circuit. Saturday, 21st November, will feature free social cycling events open to the public. The final races on Sunday, 22nd November, will follow the same competitive route before concluding at the Kwale County Headquarters.
Governor Achani encouraged residents and visitors to attend, noting that the event will offer not only top-tier racing but also family-friendly activities.
