In a public notice issued on Friday, the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) announced that a section of Ngong Road near the Naivasha Road and Kingara Road junctions will experience traffic disruption from Monday, March 9, to Monday, March 23.
According to the authority, the disruption will mainly occur during evening-to-night hours between 6:00 pm and 2:00 am to allow contractors to carry out concreting works on the flyover deck currently under construction.
Motorists travelling toward Karen will be the most affected, with traffic expected to be diverted from the Kenya Science Campus entrance to the Nairobi City County Training School entrance due to the temporary closure of part of the road.
During the night operations, only a single lane will be maintained in each direction along the affected section to facilitate the construction works.
However, KURA noted that motorists should not expect major disruptions during daytime hours as two lanes will remain open in each direction and no full road closures are planned during the day.
The authority has urged road users to exercise caution when approaching the construction area and follow the traffic signs that will be installed along the route.
Police officers and traffic marshals will also be deployed at the site to guide motorists and help maintain smooth traffic flow during the works.
"We apologise for any inconveniences caused as we continue to transform Urban Mobility," the notice read in part.
