Alshifaa FC and Green Eagles will battle for the Ksh.1
million top prize when they meet in the final of the second edition of the Sisi
Ni Dola Cup this Friday at Mombasa Sports Club.
Alshifaa secured their place in the final with a narrow 1-0
victory over Kwale-based Azzam United, Swaleh Lenrod scoring the decisive goal.
The result marked a significant improvement for Alshifaa,
who were eliminated in the semifinals during the inaugural edition of the
tournament.
Head coach Abdulnasser Kassim praised his players for
executing their game plan and says the team expects to have a full-strength
squad for the final.
Green Eagles, meanwhile, booked their place after overcoming
Nyundo FC 4-3 on penalties following a goalless draw in regulation time.
Nyundo and Azzam will now face off in Thursday's third-place
playoff.
Tournament organizer Hassan Kipapa expects a fiercely
contested final after both sides upset expectations to reach the title decider.
The champions will pocket Ksh.1 million, with the runners-up
receiving Ksh.500,000 and the third-placed team taking home Ksh.250,000.
The tournament will also award Ksh.20,000 each to the Best
Player, Young Player, Best Goalkeeper and Top Scorer.
Kipapa has further invited scouts and coaches to attend the tournament and assess emerging talent, with the competition providing a platform for players to attract opportunities beyond the grassroots level.
