KPA coach Mugabe confident of playoff push despite Thunder defeat

Mugabe said the performance reflected the team's preparation despite the disappointing result, adding that there were plenty of positives to build on.

"The preparation we put in showed during the game, and I think the team executed our game plan well. It was a good contest and one that gave us plenty of lessons to learn from. Of course, the defeat hurts because we wanted the victory, but overall I believe we've made good progress," said Mugabe.

The KPA coach admitted that his side still has areas that require improvement, particularly on the defensive end and in attack.

"There are still several areas we need to improve, especially our defensive rotations. We also need to be more confident with our shooting and sharpen other aspects of our offense. We'll go back, review the areas that need fixing, and move forward."

With the regular season entering its final stretch, Mugabe insisted his team remains focused on securing a playoff berth.

"Our focus now is on finishing the remaining games strongly to secure a place in the playoffs. We're taking it one game at a time, and I'm confident we'll be ready for the challenges ahead," he added.

The victory saw Nairobi City Thunder maintain their perfect record this season, staying at the top of the standings with 32 points from 16 matches. KPA remain well placed in the playoff race with 22 points from 12 matches, having registered 10 wins against just two defeats.
