Korir believes Botswana will host a world-class event during next year's world relay championship that
will take place on May 2-3.
Speaking at an event in Botswana over the weekend, Korir said
the event will allow Botswana and Africa to show the world what they can do, which
will contribute significantly to the economy of Africa.
“This is an opportunity to show the world what Africa can do. I
believe this country, with the love for athletics they have, has what it takes
to organize a world-class competition, which we are all looking forward to,”
said Korir.
The head of youth development at Athletics Kenya went on to
encourage Botswana to continue nurturing more young talent, saying they are the
future of sports in the world.
“It is essential to keep nurturing young talent for the future.
I have seen some great young talent here, which, if well developed, can offer a
great future for this country,” added Korir.
Kenya and Botswana have had great relationships in recent times, with some of the athletes from Botswana coming to train in Kenya.
Korir says
this is in line with the vision of Athletics Kenya and the Botswana federation.
Athletics Kenya and this country's federation have had a perfect
relationship. We produce excellent long-distance runners, and here, there are
very great sprinters.
“The most important thing is that even some of the athletes from
this country come to train in Kenya, which is very good for both countries,” stated
the NOCK first vice president.
