The Kenya Medical Practitioners,
Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) Secretary General Dr. Davji Atellah has
announced that his late father, Musa Atellah Abonyo, will be laid to rest this
Friday, November 7, 2025, at their family home in Kendu Bay, Homa Bay County.
In a heartfelt message shared on Tuesday,
Dr. Atellah paid an emotional tribute to his father, describing him as not just
a parent, but “a best friend, confidant, and unwavering guide through life.”
“As we mourn his passing, I find
myself grieving not just a father, but the shattering of my world. He wasn’t
only my dad; he was my best friend and confidant, the first person I called in moments
of trouble or joy, my unwavering guide through life,” he wrote.
Dr. Atellah reflected on his
father’s strength and vibrant spirit, recalling his wisdom and warmth even
through years of illness.
“For six long years, he battled
chronic illness with extraordinary strength. Though the pain has now ended, the
memory of his courage, his warmth, and his unconditional love will forever
remain in our hearts,” he noted.
The KMPDU boss expressed
gratitude for having witnessed his father’s full journey through life, noting
that his resilience and boundless love left a lasting mark on all who knew him.
Healthcare workers and doctors
from across the country are expected to attend the burial in large numbers,
alongside local leaders and members of the community, in honour of the late
patriarch’s legacy.
Musa Atellah Abonyo passed away
on the evening of Sunday, October 26, at Gendia Kendu Adventist Hospital, after
a prolonged illness.
