Kitui-based Dynamos keen to build on Mashujaa Cup triumph

FKF Division One side Dynamo FC will be out to build on their Mashujaa Cup success to gun
for promotion to the National Super League (NSL) next season.
Dynamo
made history on home soil after defeating AFC Leopards Youth 1-0 to lift the
2025 Mashujaa Day Cup at the newly built Ithookwe Stadium on Monday in Kitui County, in front of a passionate and jubilant crowd.
It
was a moment of pride and glory for FC Dynamo, who clinched the 2025 Mashujaa
Day Cup with a narrow but hard-fought 1-0 win over AFC Leopards Youth at
Ithookwe Stadium, Kitui.
Enoch
Ouma scored the decisive goal in the 5th minute via a well-taken penalty,
sealing the victory for the FKF Division One side. The win earned FC Dynamo
Ksh. 500,000, a trophy, and gold medals, while runners-up Leopards Youth
pocketed Ksh. 300,000 and silver medals.
Head
Coach Januaris Mwendwa hailed his players’ spirit, saying: "It was not an
easy match, but the boys gave it their all. Nothing great comes from comfort —
this was well earned."
Captain
Meshack Makau expressed his joy at playing in a packed stadium, thanking the
Ministry of Sports and the national government for building the new facility.
"Ithookwe
Stadium means a lot to Kitui County. This win inspires our youth, and we look
forward to our first Division One game this weekend right here," he said.
In
para-sports, Makueni County’s Para Volleyball team dominated the day with a 3-0
victory in Sitting Volleyball competition.
Team
captain Justus Katumo praised the government for supporting disability sports,
noting that platforms like the Mashujaa Cup are vital in empowering all
athletes.
The
event was organized by the Ministry of Sports as part of Kenya's Mashujaa Day
2025 celebrations.
