Kisii: One thug killed, two escape injured during shootout with police

The police said they had launched a manhunt for criminals who had been terorrising residents in the past three weeks.

“The criminals have been criss-crossing between Kisii and Kilgoris area,” one officer said.

He said the police had tracked the gang and as they pursued them, the criminals opened fire on the police, making them fire back and in the process, one thug was killed.

Two other thugs escaped with injuries, however the police have put the criminals on notice, saying they will hunt them down.

The police urged members of the public to report any suspicious behaviour, including people they spot with guns.

Locals said they were happy that the thugs were being flushed out, adding that many of them had been forced to close their businesses early because of fear of being attacked.
