Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki has urged residents of the Mt. Kenya region to support President William Ruto for a second term, saying the region has benefited from various development projects.

Speaking during his development tour of Marimanti in Tharaka Nithi, where he launched the upgrading to bitumen standards of a road, Kindiki took a swipe at Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, claiming he has no development record from his time in government.

“Hata yule mtu hakuna rekodi ya kuonyesha alipokuwa makamu wa rais, hadi sasa tunamtengenezea barabara kule kwake Tseikuru, kwake huko Ukambani,” he said.

“Tunataka muwe nyuma ya naibu rais, ndio atuongoze mlimani, akimaliza Ruto achukuwe usukani,” Energy Principal Secretary Alex Wachra added.

This comes as a section of broad-based leaders rallied support for President Ruto in Mbooni, Makueni County.

Pro-government leaders drummed up support for Ruto, saying the Kenya Kwanza administration has ensured equitable development across the country.

“Hakuna wakati tumepata maendeleo kama hii miaka minne tumepata kutoka kwa Rais William Ruto, nikianza kuhesabu,” said Aviation PS Teresia Mbaika.

“Wasituuzie uoga hapa eti UDA haiuziki hapa. Watuwachie demokrasia, tutauza demokrasia hapa, tuuze UDA Taveta na Central Kenya,” added Taveta MP John Bwire.

DP Kindiki at the same time warned underperforming contractors to shape up as the government races against time to complete development projects before the 2027 contest.

“I want to tell the contractors who are lazy, waambie tutawatoa na tulete watu wengine ndio miradi ikamilishe,” Kindiki warned.
