A family from Ngecherok village in Kapsoit Ward, Ainamoi in Kericho County, was forced to spend the night in the cold after their home was mysteriously burnt down on Sunday evening.

Villagers in the area stated that the exact cause of the fire could not be immediately determined.

A physically challenged mother, who was inside the house at the time, narrowly escaped death thanks to quick rescue efforts by members of the public. They rushed to the homestead after noticing thick smoke billowing from the house, managed to pull her out before the entire structure was consumed by flames and took her to safety.

During the incident, two vehicles parked in the shade were also destroyed by the fire. Nothing inside the semi-permanent house was recoverable.

The fire brigade from the Kericho County government arrived promptly and assisted in extinguishing the blaze.

The incident occurred less than 12 hours after another fire incident at Kapcheptendeniet village in neighbouring Poiywek location, Ainamoi Sub County, where an education officer and her 7-year-old daughter were burned beyond recognition in the early hours of Saturday night.

Additionally, on Friday night, three family members from Kapnandet village in Belgut Sub-County died after their house mysteriously caught fire while they were sleeping.
