Kenya is positioning itself as a market and strategic hub for value addition and technology transfer.

The Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Korir Sing’oei, hosted a delegation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the U.S.-Africa Business Center (USAfBC), led by its President, Kendra Gaither, in Nairobi on Wednesday, September 9, 2026.

The visit marks the second major U.S. business delegation to Kenya this year. It focused on expanding bilateral trade, mobilising private-sector investment, and strengthening business ties between Kenya and America, building on the State Visit by President William Ruto to the United States in May 2024.

Sing’oei applauded the extension of the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) through 2028, saying it provides exporters and investors with greater certainty.

Kenya also urged American businesses to use the country as a base for accessing markets across the East African Community, COMESA and the African Continental Free Trade Area, making use of its advanced financial ecosystem, skilled workforce and connectivity.

The talks identified the digital economy and financial technology, advanced healthcare and medical infrastructure, critical minerals and sustainable supply chains, and the creative economy and youth empowerment as priority areas for resource mobilization.

Kenya also reaffirmed its full institutional support for the upcoming AmCham Business Summit in Nairobi.

“Private-sector partnerships are essential to translating the strong Kenya-U.S. bilateral relationship into sustainable economic outcomes,” said the Principal Secretary while reaffirming Kenya’s dedication to a competitive, transparent and investor-friendly environment.

According to Sing’oei, the visit was part of a growing partnership to convert diplomatic ties into concrete commercial outcomes.
