Kenya Police FC has officially announced the departure of head coach Etienne Ndayiragije, marking the end of a remarkable chapter in the club’s history.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the club confirmed
that it had mutually parted ways with the Burundian tactician, effective
October 29, 2025, allowing him to pursue new challenges after a record-breaking
tenure.
Ndayiragije joined the Law Enforcers in November 2024, when the team was struggling near the bottom of the Football Kenya
Federation (FKF) Premier League table.
Within months, he transformed their fortunes, guiding the
club to its first-ever league title during the 2024–2025 season — a milestone
achievement that cemented his name in Kenya Police FC’s history books.
Under his guidance, Kenya Police FC also made their
continental appearance in the CAF Champions League earlier this year.
Despite a spirited
campaign, the team was eliminated by Al Hilal Omdurman of Sudan in the second
qualifying round on a 4–1 aggregate scoreline.
The exit came amid controversy after the club filed a
protest with CAF, claiming that Al Hilal had fielded ineligible players — a
case still pending determination.
In its statement, Kenya Police FC praised Ndayiragije for
his professionalism, leadership, and historic contribution, noting that he had
“diligently steered the club to bag its maiden league trophy.”
The club’s Board and
Executive expressed gratitude and wished him success as he pursues “greener
pastures and newer challenges.”
Before his stint in Kenya, the 46-year-old coach had managed
several top sides, including the Burundi national team, Tanzania national team,
Azam FC, and Vital’O FC.
His vast experience and tactical acumen were instrumental in
reshaping Police FC into a formidable force both domestically and on the
continental stage.
As the club begins its search for a new head coach, Police
Bullets head coach David Bujego is reported to have been overseeing interim
training sessions.
Ndayiragije leaves a lasting legacy — a symbol of
transformation, resilience, and belief. Although his one-year spell at the helm may have been short, it will be remembered as the era that rewrote Kenya Police FC’s
football story.
