The official opening of the 16th edition was led by the Chief Executive Officer for the Kenya Medical Training College Dr. Kelly Oluoch who termed the championship significant for the KMTC calendar.
This year’s championship has attracted participants from 92 KMTC Campuses across eight regional zones.
Approximately 2,200 student athletes and 400 members of staff are participating, making this one of the largest sporting events in the history of the medical college.
Held under the theme “Holistic Student Development: Beyond the Game; Building Healthy Minds, Strong Bodies, Lasting Connections,” the championships go beyond competition, offering an opportunity to strengthen teamwork, nurture resilience, foster friendships, and promote well-rounded student growth.
Officials from national sports federations are presiding over the event to support quality officiating and identify outstanding talent.
Kitui Health County Executive Committee Member Ruth Koki stated that the event will strengthen national cohesion among the participants since they are drawn from different regions of the country.
