According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the bus, operating under Kidia One Express, was flagged down for a routine check by a team comprising the Anti-Narcotic Unit (ANU), Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), and the Police Dog Unit.
Following a meticulous inspection, the detectives recovered four tightly wrapped bundles containing 84 packets of cannabis, weighing 84 kilograms.
The driver, 37-year-old George Ngoba, and his 25-year-old conductor, Trisha Lucas, both Tanzanian nationals, were taken into custody while the narcotics were detained as exhibits.
"This interception highlights the Government’s commitment to combating narcotics trafficking through strong enforcement, intelligence-led operations, and multi-agency collaboration to disrupt drug networks, prosecute traffickers, and protect communities from the harmful effects of illicit drugs," the DCI stated.
