A Kakamega-based lawyer was on Wednesday arraigned at the Mumias Law Courts for allegedly defrauding a client Ksh.3.2 million on the pretense of selling him a piece of land.
Court documents indicated that Beneah Bulialia Wangulu alongside other suspects approached Francis Musungu on November 11, 2023, and convinced him to purchase land in Matungu worth Ksh.3.2 million.
The victim's lawyer, Allan Otsieno sought compensation for financial losses incurred; citing that the funds were derived from Musungu's savings for seven months.
Following review of the case, Judge Gabriel Otieno denied the request by Wangulu's lawyer to release him on a cash bail and ordered the case to be heard on December 31, 2024, to allow the prosecution adequate time to gather the evidence required.
