Police in Kakamega are investigating an incident in which the body of a 20-year-old woman who went missing under unclear circumstances on Friday was found in a septic tank.

Wendy Edaa's body was found at Jua Kali Phase 2 area located in Shieywe Ward, on the outskirts of Kakamega town.

According to Lilian Lichina, the mother of the deceased, efforts to find her daughter were unsuccessful.

"Her body was discovered inside the septic tank behind a neighbor’s house," she told Citizen Digital.

She suspects her daughter may have been killed before being dumped in the tank, a claim echoed by the victim’s father, Levi Mate.

The incident has sparked outrage among residents, led by Geoffrey Mushira, who are demanding legal action against those responsible, including the owner of the uncovered tank.

The body has been taken to Kakamega Referral Hospital mortuary.
