Hussein’s inclusion in the influential global body was confirmed through FIFA’s official communication announcing the composition of its standing committees for the 2025–2029 cycle. The appointment marks the first time Kenya has been represented in FIFA’s top decision-making structures, signaling growing recognition of the nation’s football reforms and leadership strides.
Speaking after the announcement, Hussein expressed gratitude to FIFA for entrusting Kenya with the responsibility to serve on one of its most strategic committees.
“First of all, my gratitude to the team at FIFA for trusting Kenya with these critical positions in the standing committees. It’s the first time for Kenya to be in these committees at the global level, and we have shown our dedication to improving football standards not just for Kenya but for the entire region,” he said.
He added that Kenya’s successful hosting of the recent CHAN2024 tournament had boosted the country’s credibility.
“We’ve shown the rest of the world that we have the capacity and commitment to develop football and strengthen our institutions as FKF. We’re ready for bigger, better things for our country and for the CECAFA region,” Hussein emphasized.
The FKF boss further credited the Kenyan government, particularly the Ministry of Sports under Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya and President William Ruto, for their unwavering support in elevating football administration to the international stage.
“The guidance and vision of His Excellency the President have catapulted us to the global level. We will not let Kenyans down—we will represent the country and Africa in the best way possible,” he assured.
The FIFA Institutional Relations Committee is tasked with fostering cooperation between FIFA and other football organizations, confederations, and international institutions, while promoting good governance and collaboration across the sport’s global framework.
At the same time, FKF National Executive Committee member and Donholm Seniors FC President Abdalla Yusuf Ibrahim was also appointed to the FIFA Stadium and Security Committee, further cementing Kenya’s growing presence in world football governance.
These appointments mark a historic step for Kenya as it earns a seat at football’s highest policy-making tables, reflecting a renewed era of credibility, reform, and international confidence in FKF’s leadership.
