Homeboyz head coach Patrick Odhiambo has rued individual errors which he says proved
costly as his side were held to a 1–1 draw by Tusker FC in Sunday’s FKF Premier
League clash at Bukhungu Stadium.
The league
leaders were forced to rally from behind after substitute Oliver Majaka struck
late to cancel out Dennis Oalo’s opener for the Brewers. The result saw
Homeboyz stay top of the table with 14 points from seven matches, just one
point ahead of Gor Mahia and two clear of AFC Leopards, both of whom have a
game in hand.
“I’m happy but
not satisfied because we conceded an easy goal. We made some individual
mistakes that led to that goal, but I’m proud of the players’ fighting spirit
and the way they pushed until we equalised,” said Odhiambo.
Tusker assistant
coach George Maina also voiced his disappointment, saying his team had targeted
maximum points.
“We knew it
would be a tough game, but based on our preparation, we expected to win,” Maina
said. “Unfortunately, we only managed a draw. It feels like a loss because when
you get one point instead of three, it’s not what we planned for.”
Meanwhile,
Nairobi United are set to host Bandari FC at Dandora Stadium today at 3pm.
