A 40-year-old woman has died after she was electrocuted while hanging clothes on a line outside her home in Homa Bay County.

The woman, identified as Eunice Odhiambo, died on the spot despite residents' efforts to rescue her at her homestead in Oridi village, North Kanyikela location in Ndhiwa.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the main low-lying electric cable was swung by the wind and came into contact with the clothesline as she was hanging her laundry, causing the electrocution.

Area Chief James Omondi confirmed the incident, stating that the woman tragically succumbed after touching a live wire while hanging wet clothes.

Her body has been taken to Ndhiwa Hospital’s mortuary, awaiting postmortem and further procedures.

Omondi called on Kenya Power to visit the area and begin an investigation into the incident.
