Partnering with the Mishono Foundation, Ouma’s newly established Timothy Noor Foundation organized the inaugural event to support local families and aspiring young players ahead of the Christmas season.
The event focused on community uplifting, providing meals to families as an early Christmas celebration and distributing footballs and jerseys to local youth teams.
This initiative aimed to foster hope and encouragement among children and parents in the Dagoretti area.
During the event, Ouma addressed the young attendees and their families, sharing words of encouragement drawn from his own journey from grassroots football in Kenya to elite European leagues.
“I grew up in this community (Kawangware) and I am where I am today because of these people. They have contributed to my growth in one way or the other. I have played in almost every football pitch around Kawangware and the larger Dagoretti and for me I am giving back to show that there is hope especially to the younger generation.”
“Coming from this humble background, I understand well how families struggle to put a meal on the table. Not all are fortunate enough even to have simple Christmas celebrations in their households and therefore this is basically why we are here. It may not be big or adequate but for sure it can give a smile to kids and mothers in this period," said Babu.
Former AFC Leopards, Thika United and South Sudan midfielder Saad Musa commented on Babu's impactful gesture and took to the opportunity to challenge active players in local leagues to be united and help each other during difficult times.
“We came in to support one of our own Timothy Babu. We have grown with him in these ghettos and seeing him organizing an event of this magnitude really sends a clear message of inspiration. My call to even active players is to follow or mirror what Babu has done.
“Players should come together as brothers to help each other. We have a lot of players who are not active and in deep pain. They are usually suffering in silence because they have no shoulder to lean on when they are not in action.”
Born on June 10, 2004, Timothy Ouma has risen to prominence in Kenyan football, making his mark with Harambee Stars and contributing to Lech Poznan’s campaigns, including recent appearances in the UEFA Conference League.
Notable attendees in the blissful event included fellow Harambee Stars players Rooney Onyango, a right-back currently playing for Norwegian club Sogndal Football, and Byrne Omondi, goalkeeper for Gor Mahia FC.
Musa Masika (Mathare United), Kelvin Etemesi (KCB FC), Erick Mulu (Bandari FC), Elly Asieche (Mathare United), Byrone Odhiambo (FC Talanta), Ian Omondi (Mathare United), Oliver Maloba (Posta Rangers), Elvis Noor (Posta Rangers), Saad Musa and former AFC Leopards midfielders Saad Musa Abdallah and Ezekiel Odera graced the occasion.
The Timothy Noor Foundation was established to support youth development, education, and sports in underserved communities, marking this as its maiden project with plans for annual editions and expanded initiatives in the coming years.
The Mishono Foundation, is a Nairobi-based organization dedicated to rehabilitating and supporting street children through clothing, education, and empowerment programs in areas like Kawangware, and collaborated closely on the event.
Together, the foundations aim to create lasting impact by addressing immediate needs while inspiring long-term aspirations.
“This partnership exemplifies how sports can bridge communities and create opportunities,” said a representative from Mishono Foundation. “We’re proud to join forces with Timothy Noor Ouma to bring joy and resources to families during the festive season,” said Mishono Director, Anaclet Muinami.
