The two governors visited the Odinga home to condole with the family and honour the memory of Raila Odinga, whom they described as their longtime political mentor and compatriot. They also toured the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Mausoleum, paying homage to the Odinga family’s enduring role in shaping Kenya’s history and democratic journey.
In their company were members of the Odinga family, including Mama Ida Odinga, Siaya Senator Dr. Oburu Oginga, Kisumu Woman Representative Ruth Odinga, and Raila Odinga Junior.
At the gravesite, Governors Sakaja and Orengo laid their hands over Raila’s grave, said a prayer, and observed a moment of silence in honour of the fallen leader.

Speaking during the visit, Governor Sakaja hailed Raila as a visionary statesman whose courage and commitment to democracy profoundly shaped Kenya’s political landscape.
“Raila Odinga was more than a political leader — he was a symbol of resilience and unity. His dedication to justice and democracy continues to inspire generations,” said Sakaja.
The visit by Sakaja and Orengo came just a day after retired President Uhuru Kenyatta also paid his respects at Raila’s grave on Monday, a day after the burial.
