Gor Mahia Youth team and Gor Mahia Queens got a boost when the Acting Patron Eliud Owalo through his initiative, Owalo Foundation gifted the teams with kits and cash.
During the event in Nairobi, Eliud Owalo reiterated his
earlier commitment to scout for a dedicated sponsor to support Gor Mahia Youth
and Gor Mahia Queens respectively.
Speaking at Jericho
Ground today where he gifted the two teams new sets of track suits each, Owalo
said it is time to nurture the two teams to ensure in the future, the senior
team will not spend exorbitantly buying players from abroad but will promote
players from their own junior team
‘’We are dedicated to supporting these two teams. We will
ensure they get all that is required to make Gor great from the grassroots and
this will reduce our expenditure of buying expensive players from other
teams,’’ said Owalo.
The teams were gifted Ksh.200,000 each team as a
motivational gesture. Owalo said through such motivations, the teams can be
transformed to world class teams in the future where scouts can pitch camp,
earning Gor revenue in exchange for players who would wish to play abroad.
Sally Bollo, the club vice chairperson thanked the patron
for his gesture noting the motivation will go a long way in helping the girls
work hard and earn a place in the Kenya Women Premier League next season.
