Perennial Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia on Sunday took charge of the league title race after beating defending champions Kenyan Police FC 2-0 at the Nyayo National Stadium.
The high stakes match had been christened
‘Siral Derby’ – drawing from Gor’s nickname ‘Sirkal’ meaning Government, while
Kenya police, by virtue of their job, are considered a wing of the government.
Police won their debut KPL title last
term, to earn the nod to represent Kenya at the CAF Champions League but they crashed
out at the hands of Al Hilal of Sudan in the second and final round of the preliminaries.

to give K’Ogalo a fierce challenge but they were unpicked with ease as Gor drew
the line - showing they are the bosses.
Felix Oluoch put Gor ahead after
being put through by Ghanaian import Ebenezer Adu-Kwaw, while Musa Sharif had
the final say in the game, giving the Green Army reasons to chant, after his winner in the 33rd minute.
The win hoisted Gor to the apex
of the standing on 16 points, two more than Kakamega Homeboyz
