her team secure a goalless draw against Bungoma Queens in a tightly contested
Women’s Premier League clash at the weekend.
Speaking on her outstanding performance,
head coach Mary Adhiambo praised Pauline for her composure, agility, and
command in goal, noting that her performance was key to the team’s resilience
throughout the match.
Adhiambo described the goalkeeper as a “pillar of confidence” whose effort reflected the team’s
fighting spirit.
"She has been helping us a lot in
our fixtures, the opponents were playing long balls but none of it troubled
her, she managed to deal with the threat perfectly. All I can say is to
encourage her to continue pushing for more." Adhiambo noted.
Kathuruh's impressive display earned her
the Player of the Match award —
recognition she humbly dedicated to her teammates. She expressed gratitude to
her fellow players for their teamwork and commitment, saying that the result
was a collective effort.
“I’m
happy for the award, but it’s
the team spirit that made it possible. Everyone gave their best, and I’m proud of how we fought for that point,” Pauline said after the match.
The hard-earned draw lifted Kayole
Starlets to sixth place in the standings with seven points, while Bungoma
Queens remain eighth with four points.
Meanwhile, with such defensive
determination, Adhiambo’s
side will be looking to build on the momentum as they aim to climb higher in
the league table and establish themselves among the top contenders this season.
