Nzoia Sugar FC head coach Charles Odero has expressed disappointment over his team’s continued failure to convert scoring chances, attributing their poor run of results to a lack of concentration among the strikers.
The National
Super League (NSL) side has drawn five consecutive matches this season, the
latest being a 2–2 stalemate against Mombasa United on Sunday at the Sudi
Stadium. Odero said the players’ lack of composure in front of goal has cost
the team valuable points.
“We have been
having issues in scoring goals. This week we worked on finishing, and our
strikers tried hard and managed to get two goals,” Odero told Citizen Digital.
The tactician
added that the heavy rainfall during Sunday’s encounter disrupted his side’s
rhythm and contributed to their loss of focus.
“We played
really well, but the momentum was disrupted by the rains. Our players lost
concentration after taking a brief break,” he noted.
Despite the
frustrating run, Odero remains optimistic about turning things around. He said
the team is now focused on their upcoming fixture against Kisumu Allstars and
that he plans to address weaknesses observed across all departments during
training.
After six
matches, Nzoia Sugar have recorded one win and five draws, collecting a total
of eight points. The team will be seeking to end their streak of draws and
reignite their campaign as they aim to climb up the NSL standings.
