ODM party national chairperson Gladys Wanga has assured members of the party that the political outfit will not disintegrate even after the death of their leader Raila Odinga.

Wanga called for unity among members of the party, saying they will continue being united and move forward as a team.

Speaking during the World Food at Kendu Bay Show Ground, Wanga says ODM will hold celebrations to mark its 20th anniversary as earlier planned in Mombasa without disruption.

Governor Wanga said ODM members should use the party to negotiate for political deals ahead of the 2027 general election.

Governor Wanga acknowledged the leadership of Siaya Senator Oburu Oginga who was appointed as the acting party leader of ODM.

She stated that ODM members in Homa Bay County will hold a memorial service at Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay Town on Wednesday next week to remember their party leader.

This comes after the party held a Central Management Committee meeting, where ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna noted that the party will uphold the Mr. Odinga's call for a unified nation and honour his commitment to partner with the government.

Sifuna added that the CMC also resolved to hold memorial services in different parts of the country as they mourn the late ODM leader Mr. Odinga.

Memorial venues will be in Magarini, Kilifi County on 2nd and 3rd November and will proceed to Homabay and Migori on 5th and 6th.

He maintained that the scheduled 20th party anniversary celebrations will still proceed from the 14th to 16th "accompanied by activities aimed at cementing the unity and solidarity within the party".
