KWS said that the woman fed, bathed and even leashed the cheetah like a pet cat, and they got to know about her act of compassion through the community.
KWS, however, stated that despite her noble deed, it is against the Wildlife Conservation and Management Act (WCMA), which protects wild animals and ensures their well-being in their natural habitats and will need to be taken to safer custody.
KWS officers took the cheetah and handed it to the veterinary team, who conducted a full health check, collected samples for laboratory testing, and administered treatment for parasite control.
"Now under expert care at the Nairobi Safari Walk, the cheetah continues to thrive as part of our conservation and education efforts," said KWS.
KWS thanked the woman for her act of kindness, adding that true coexistence means protecting wildlife in the wild, where they belong.
