Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua now says Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru and Kirinyaga County Members of Parliament are enemies of the Mt. Kenya community, maintaining his earlier sentiments that the leaders had sold their community to President William Ruto.
Speaking during a rally in Kirinyaga County today, Gachagua dismissed demonstrations organised in defence of Waiguru and Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire on Monday.
He stormed Kirinyaga Governor Waiguru’s backyard of Mwea, firing up the crowd that had gathered with anti-government chants.
"Mimi nakuuliza wewe Mumbi, tangu Kasongo alete mchele kutoka Pakistan, ndiyo watu wa Mwea waumie, ulikosa hata akina mama 300 wakuje kwa barabara wapige kelele Kasongo aone aibu," said Gachagua.
Gachagua sustained his onslaught on Waiguru, dismissing the misogyny allegations.
"Wewe ukuwe mwanaume, uwe mama, wewe kama ni msaliti, wewe ni msaliti," he added. "Sema Wantam hadi Kasongo asikie chai yake inaonja muarubaini."
The former DP also included MPs from Kirinyaga County in his
firing line, branding them enemies of the people.
"Wewe governor and MPs ya Kirinyaga, nyinyi ndiyo adui kubwa ya watu wa Mwea
na Kirinyaga. You are the enemies of Kirinyaga and our people," Gachagua noted.
Nyandarua Senator John Methu on his part said, "Kasongo, sisi ndiyo tulikuweka ukuwe Rais wa Jamhuri ya Kenya na sisi ndiyo tutakufanya raia wa Jamhuri ya Kenya."
The sentiments by Gachagua, initially made on Saturday in
Embu County, sparked protests in some Mt. Kenya counties, with residents
accusing the DCP leader of demeaning women.
