Wanjira’s daughter, Joyce Ngunje, upon getting the news about her mother's disappearance, reported the case at Buruburu police station.
According to Ngunje, her mother left the house on October 28, at 3 pm, when her caregiver was showering.
She went straight to the gate since it was open and headed to a tailor's shop in Umoja Innercore, carrying a handbag which had a skirt, a shower cape, and two pouches as she was trying to look for money, among other things.
The tailor, who is also their neighbour, informed Ngunje that she stayed at that shop for almost an hour, where she (Wanjira) said that she wanted to go to upcountry, where she was born.
She added that she did not want her kids to know.
"When I heard the news at 7 pm, it was raining heavily. So, I went to the chemist where she often visits because she has diabetes and high blood pressure," she stated.
"She acquires medicine there, and the lady who works there knows her very well, said that she had not seen her. "
On October 29, she continued the search in different locations like Umoja, Buruburu, Kariobangi, among other places.
"We pray and hope God keeps her safe for us. She is the only living parent we have, and we would do anything to find her," Ngunje stated in a Facebook post.
She says that they (Ngunje and family) have posted about it, and most people have reposted to publicise it and facilitate their search.
