Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has taken a hard swipe at his predecessor, Rigathi Gachagua, accusing him of advancing politics of hate, ethnicity and division.
Speaking at several stopovers during a campaign trail for the
United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate in the Mbeere North Parliamentary by-election,
Leonard Muthende, Kindiki dismissed Gachagua as a “failed leader with no
influence.”
He faulted the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) boss for
purporting to be the Mt. Kenya kingpin despite, according to him, having no
tangible development record during his short tenure as Deputy President.
"He is coming here with a charm offensive for the
opposition candidate, presenting himself as the de facto leader of this region,
yet he did nothing for you, the people of Mbeere North," Kindiki said.
The DP urged residents to make an informed decision by
electing Muthende, describing him as the most suitable candidate to attract
development and continue projects initiated by former MP Geoffrey Ruku, who now
serves as a Cabinet Secretary.
Kindiki exuded confidence that UDA would clinch the seat with
a landslide, promising the opposition an “epic battle.”
