Traders in Siakago town in Mbeere have held a peaceful protest demanding improved service delivery from the Embu County Government.
The traders, representing various business sectors, expressed frustration over what they described as continued neglect by the county administration.
They said that despite faithfully paying taxes and other levies, the services provided do not match the revenue collected.
During the protest, the traders warned they would suspend all revenue payments to the county government until their grievances are addressed.
Key issues highlighted included the poor state of roads, with calls for major streets to be tarmacked to improve movement and the business environment.
They also raised concerns over the lack of public toilets, inadequate garbage collection and poor street lighting, which they said pose health risks and increase insecurity, especially at night.
The demonstrators urged the Embu County Government to urgently engage them in dialogue to resolve the issues, warning that continued inaction would negatively affect both businesses and county revenue collection.
