The High Court in Eldoret has set April 21, 2026, as the date for the hearing of the murder case against a primary school teacher, Sylivia Bosibori, who is accused of allegedly poisoning her nine-year-old son to death five years ago.

Justice Emily Ominde issued the direction after the prosecution brought to the attention of the court that a plea bargain had failed to yield a resolution.

The case will now be heard by a new Judge after Justice Omondi, who has been handling the matter, notified the court that she will be proceeding to Bungoma, where she is expected to take over her new station by April 1, 2026.

The State has lined up nine key witnesses who are set to testify against the accused person during the trial session.

According to the prosecution, the out-of-court settlement process had hit a snag necessitating a full hearing to determine the murder charge facing the primary school teacher, who is out on a cash bail of Ksh. 30,000.

Bosibori is charged that on a diverse date between May 17, 2022 and May 20, 2022, at Joyland area in Kapsaos location of Turbo Sub County in Uasin Gishu county, she murdered her son, who was aged nine years.

Bosibori is said to have poisoned her only child to death over domestic issues.

According to court documents, the suspect continued with her normal school and house chores after poisoning her son in Joyland area, which is on the outskirts of Eldoret town.

Shockingly, Bosibori would close the door of her house from outside and go to school as her son lay dead on a bed in her bedroom in a bizarre incident.

The matter came to light after three days when concerned neighbors of the suspect started complaining of foul smell emanating from her house, forcing them to peep through the window, only to see the lifeless body of a child lying on a bed.

They reported the matter to the police officers based at Kamukunji police station, who responded by visiting the scene and found the suspect’s son lying dead inside the house.

The body, which had started to decompose, was moved to the Moi Teaching and Referral (MTRH) morgue for preservation, awaiting autopsy.

The murder trial is set to begin on April 21, 2026, before the incoming Judge.
