An elderly man has died at the Bungoma Law Courts while waiting for his case to be heard.

According to a statement from the Judiciary, the man, who appeared visibly unwell, arrived at the court on a motorcycle around 9 a.m. Upon arrival, a customer care officer issued him a “Priority Card”

It was later established that his matter was before the Environment and Land Court. The man told officers he would wait for his advocate’s arrival and decided to rest on the grass outside the court, accompanied by his brothers.

However, when a court official went to update him on his case, the man was found unresponsive.

Police were immediately called to the scene and confirmed that he had passed away. His body was later taken to Bungoma County Referral Hospital Mortuary for preservation and further procedures.

In a message of condolence, Judiciary Spokesperson Hon. Paul Ndemo described the incident as deeply unfortunate and conveyed the Judiciary’s sympathy to the bereaved family during this difficult time.
