Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has assured residents of Mbeere North constituency that the government will complete all the ongoing projects in the area, promising commissioning of more in order to improve their lives.
The DP spoke as he urged them to elect United Democratic
Alliance (UDA) candidate Leonard Wamuthende in next week’s by-election saying
he will be in a better position to push for quicker completion of the projects.
“The development needs of Mbeere North are massive. We can’t
afford to play cards with our development again. Those telling you to join the
opposition don’t mean well for you,” the DP stated.
The Deputy President spoke on Wednesday when he led campaigns
for Wamuthende at Muthanthara and Kirie areas in the constituency.
He said the constituency had been marginalized for a long time
but is now a beneficiary of transformative projects touching on roads, water,
electricity and others started by Ruto’s administration.
The DP enumerated the multiple projects worth billions of
shillings funded by the government in the area saying the government is keen to
deliver more.
They include tarmacking of Siakago-Kanyuambora Road,
Gikuyari-Ishiara Road and Kanyuambora-Kamumu Road among others.
Other projects are Kanyuambora Ward Water Project worth Sh250m
and Kamata Water Project in Nthawa Ward worth Ksh.150 million.
A major project targeting supplying water to both Mbeere South
and Mbeere North constituencies from Kiambere Dam has also commenced. It has
already been allocated Ksh.1.3 billion.
The constituency has also been allocated Ksh.336 million for
last-mile electricity connection and it will be doubled to Ksh.600 million
following DP’s intervention.
“It will be easier for Leo to push the government to complete
these projects because he will enjoy the support of all other leaders in Embu
and will have an ear of top government officials including our President,” he
noted.
The Deputy President promised residents that he will keenly
follow up their implementation to ensure they are completed on time.
At the same time, he warned the opposition against spreading
hate, threats and insults in the constituency.
“This habit of insulting elected leaders and the people must
come to an end. Those who have perfected it should know their days are
numbered. You cannot be threatening everyone and imposing yourself on people
who don’t want anything from you,” he warned.
