Deputy President Kithure Kindiki on Sunday visited residents of the Bangladesh area in Old Town, Mombasa, to condole with families affected by the Tudor Creek boat tragedy that occurred on Friday.

According to authorities, nineteen people were rescued on the day of the incident, while one body was recovered on Sunday.

Search and recovery operations are still ongoing for two individuals who remain missing.

During his visit, DP Kindiki conveyed his deep condolences to the bereaved families and assured them of the National Government’s full support during this difficult period.

He commended all agencies involved in the search and rescue efforts, including non-governmental organizations and community volunteers, for their swift and selfless response in the aftermath of the tragedy.

The Deputy President also praised Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir, Mvita MP Mohammed Machele, and Jomvu MP Badi Twalib for standing in solidarity with the affected residents and families.

He noted that both the National and County Governments would work together to support the families of those who lost their loved ones and provide assistance to the brave locals who acted as first responders and helped save lives.

Prof. Kindiki further announced that psychosocial support would be offered to survivors who were left visibly shaken by the incident.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continue search and recovery operations until all missing persons are accounted for, emphasizing that no effort would be spared in bringing closure to the affected families.
