Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has said there are ongoing
efforts by the Kenya Kwanza administration to woo Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF)
leader Kalonzo Musyoka from the opposition, in what he describes as attempts to
save his image from what the opposition has become.
Kindiki said he would not let up in the pursuit to win the
Wiper leader. The DP spoke when he hosted grassroots leaders from Kitui County,
where he called for an end to ethnic and divisive politics.
“Hatuwezi kubali, ati ndugu yetu (Kalonzo) anaenda na watu
wengine wakora. Wanafundisha yeye mambo ambayo si yake. Yeye ni muungwana, yeye
ni mstaarabu. Ni wakili kama mimi. Ni msomi. Yeye ni mtu organized. Ni mtu wa
kanisa,” Kindiki remarked.
The DP stated that there has been no breakthrough yet, but
maintains that the pursuit for the opposition chief is on. Kalonzo had told the
Ruto administration to quit sending emissaries to him.
“Mimi bado najaribu namna hii namna hii. Bado ata huyo ndugu
yangu I have not given up. Namna hii tu. Don’t worry. Msiwe na haraka. Na
mumwambie akuje tusaidiane sasa tusonge mbele,” Kindiki stated.
The DP, who hosted grassroots leaders from Kitui County at his
Irunduni home, also took a swipe at the united opposition for adopting a style
of politics that he says is meant to derail the government on its delivery,
vowing to push for equal development.
“Siasa ya upumbavu, ya kuleta mgawanyiko kati ya wananchi.
Siasa ya Kishetani ya kuhubiri ukabila na chuki. Sisi tumesema hiyo siasa haina
nafasi katika Kenya yetu tena,” Kindiki noted.
The revelations came as his UDA party intensified campaigns in
Malava Constituency, touting its candidate, David Ndakwa, as the best option to
take over from the late Malulu Injendi.
“Tunaenda kura kupata uongozi wa kufanya maendeleo. Upinzani
hakuna pesa, upinzani hakuna mamlaka, upinzani hakuna uwezo wa kutenda
chochote. Ni kulalamika. Ni kulialia,” Bungoma Senator Wafula Wakoli said.
