The Mombasa Sports Club roared to life as Fayaz FC made a slice of history, defeating FETUWE FC 1-0 to clinch the 2025 Sisi ni Dola Cup title.
A moment of magic from playmaker Hamid Mohammed in the 80th
minute proved the difference in a tightly contested final that kept fans on the
edge of their seats.
Despite FETUWE fielding an all-star lineup from Mombasa
United’s National Super League squad, Fayaz showed hunger, discipline, and flair
-traits that defined their run throughout the tournament.
Coach Shimai Faud, beaming with pride, hailed his players’
spirit and drive.
“Facing such experienced opponents only pushed us to give
our best. This win means a lot for the team and the youth of Mombasa.”
FETUWE’s tactician Gilbert Selebwa was gracious in defeat,
acknowledging Fayaz’s sharp attack led by the unstoppable Hamid:
“They made their chances count. We were already thinking
ahead to our NSL clash with Darajani Gogo — but credit to Fayaz, they deserved
it.”
As the sun set on Mombasa Sports Club, Fayaz lifted the
glittering trophy, taking home KSh 500,000, while FETUWE pocketed KSh 250,000.
Al-Shifaa FC and Congo Boyz rounded out the top four,
earning KSh 100,000 and KSh 50,000 respectively.
Individual honors added more sparkle to Fayaz’s triumph — Hamid Mohammed scooped Player of the Tournament, Jaffar Shareef was named Best Goalkeeper, while Adhilwahab Jelle from Juve FC and Coach Faud took home Rising Star and Coach of the Tournament awards.
