Speaking during a forum bringing together teachers, Community health promoters and other professionals from Mbeere North, Ruku dismissed the claims as propaganda intended to derail a promising young leader whose rise, he said, is rooted in hard work, discipline and academic excellence.
The CS described Muthende as an “industrious son of the soil,” noting that earning a First Class Honours degree in Biochemistry from the University of Nairobi is no ordinary achievement.
Such academic distinction, he said, reflects a rare blend of intelligence, commitment and resilience that should be celebrated rather than weaponised.
Ruku shared how the candidate was raised in a humble background and has since excelled in a field where few reach the top.
He also highlighted Muthende’s entrepreneurial journey, recalling how he ventured into a small business after university and gradually built it into a thriving enterprise through dedication and sound management.
“Anyone who knows Muthende understands he is a product of sweat and sacrifice. He did not inherit wealth or privilege. He built everything step by step, and that is why these accusations cannot stand,” Ruku said.
According to the CS, the allegations form part of a broader strategy by rivals who feel threatened by Muthende’s growing popularity and clean track record within the community.
The Cabinet Secretary appealed to the people of Mbeere North to focus on issues such as economic development, youth empowerment and improved public service delivery, instead of being swayed by what he described as “manufactured scandals.”
