A court has allowed former Nairobi Central Police Station OCS Samson Talaam, who is facing a murder charge, to seek specialised treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).

In proceedings on Tuesday morning, Talaam’s lawyer Stanley Kangahi told the court his client had developed a medical complication linked to a previous kidney condition.

He said Talaam has been unwell in recent weeks and needed urgent assessment and tests by specialists at the national referral hospital.

The prosecution did not oppose the request.

The court granted the application and directed that Talaam be escorted to KNH to see a specialist. The court also ordered that a medical report be filed after the examination.

The case will be mentioned again on March 17 for hearing. The day’s mention was also to establish whether CCTV footage linked to the case had been obtained.

Talaam is charged alongside other accused persons.
