CAF honours President Ruto with outstanding achievement award

The honour was presented on Wednesday night during the 2025 CAF Awards ceremony in Rabat, Morocco. Kenyan Ambassador to Morocco, Jessica Gakinya, received the award on behalf of the President.
“With the elaborate support structure the government is putting in place for sports and particularly football, I have no doubt our players shall soon be recipients of these coveted accolades as well,” Football Kenya Federation President, Hussein Mohammed, said on the accolade.
Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan and Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni were also honoured for their role in strengthening football institutions and supporting major continental sporting initiatives.
CAF President, Dr Patrice Motsepe, applauded the three East African leaders for their exceptional dedication to the advancement of football on the continent.
Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda co-hosted the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), an event that highlighted improved stadium infrastructures, enhanced logistics and higher operational standards.
Kenya is also preparing to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
At the ceremony, Nigeria’s Super Falcons were named Women’s Team of the year, with Chiamaka Nnadozie winning Women’s Goalkeeper of the year.
Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi was crowned CAF Men’s Player of the Year, while Ghizlane Chebbak took home the Women’s Player of the Year Award.
