Two suspects were charged on Wednesday, February 18, over an alleged teachers' recruitment scam.

The two, Allan Amata, a businessman from Kakamega County, and Valary Jerop, a teacher based in Mogotio, were arraigned at the Eldama Ravine Law Courts on charges of allegedly obtaining over Ksh.10 million from individuals by falsely promising them permanent teaching jobs through the Teachers Service Commission.

They were released on a bond of Ksh.3 million or an alternative cash bail of Ksh.1.5 million.

The court also ordered the suspects to surrender their travel documents and report to the DCI offices in Mogotio every Friday until the case is heard and determined.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, 21 complainants recorded statements in January and February this year.
