A 41-year-old bouncer has been shot dead following an altercation at an entertainment spot in Machakos town.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Machakos Town Sub-County Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) chief Nzyoka Singi confirmed the shooting, saying the fatal confrontation stemmed from a disagreement between the victim and a patron at the establishment.

According to police, the altercation began after the bouncer allegedly used excessive force to eject a woman who was in the company of the suspect.

The move reportedly angered the man, who then drew a firearm and shot the bouncer four times, killing him on the spot.

Officers who responded to the scene recovered a pistol and 12 rounds of ammunition.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect is a licensed firearm holder.

He has since been arrested together with the woman involved as detectives intensify investigations into the incident.

The body of the deceased was moved to the mortuary pending postmortem examination as police continue to piece together the events leading to the fatal shooting.
