Boniface Ohindo, popularly known as "Super B," was apprehended at his residence by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) after the MCA lodged a complaint accusing him of using social media to misinform the public and spread false claims about the area’s development projects.
Bondo DCIO Reuben Onchoka confirmed the arrest, stating that Ohindo is expected to appear in court on Monday to face charges related to cyber harassment and misuse of digital platforms.
The arrest has sparked mixed reactions among residents of Yimbo East Ward. A group led by Erick Oyaro visited Ohindo at the Bondo police station, urging Otiato to consider an out-of-court settlement, citing the blogger’s past role as Otiato’s personal assistant.
Margaret Akinyi, another resident, criticized the MCA’s move, claiming it instills fear among constituents who raise questions about local development initiatives. She appealed to Otiato to withdraw the case to preserve harmony between the leadership and the electorate.
In response to the arrest, the MCA said he had previously reached out to Ohindo, asking him to stop publishing defamatory content but he ignored the requests, leaving him with no choice but to pursue legal action.
Otiato indicated he might reconsider the case if Ohindo shows remorse and issues a public apology.
Otherwise, he warned, that the blogger would not only face criminal charges but also a civil suit for damages.
